Will This Optical Illusion Drive You Crazy? There have been a lot of illusions released on the Internet. Some bugged their viewers to the point that they might just decide to forget they ever saw them, while others had the best time of their life figuring out the many things that they can see from these works (and how the illusions worked at all). The image above, however, might be on the toes of “driving people crazy.” But that’s just our opinion of course! You might find this fascinating or downright mind-boggling. Created by Jacques Ninio and Kent Stevens, this image might just look like a bunch of squares, cubes, or even triangles in one blank space. Actually, on one side of the image, there seems to be a grid of triangles where dark dots also appear. On an initial inspection, these dots may be placed in between uneven spaces. However, these dots actually appear evenly spaced. It’s crazy! This creation by Ninio and Stevens is an example of an extinction optical illusion. The image renders the cells in our retinas to adjust to the brightness and the light signal in many small sections. “When we look at a Hermann Grid variation like Ninio's extinction illusion, the intersection we look at directly is seen by the fovea, a central depression in the retina where vision is sharpest but which has a small receptive field,” Joseph Foley further explains.Image credit: Jacques Ninio and Kent Stevens / Future via CreativeBloq#opticalillusion #JacquesNinio #KentStevens #HermannGrid #ExtinctionIllusion

This Ad for the Book "Finis Veritatis? On Truth and Lies" Cleverly Use Optical IllusionsNow this is how you create ads! Aldis Ozoliņš used various optical illusion to convey the uncertainty of knowing the truth from a single glance. In addition, these illusions also allow viewers to observe the images from different points of view, which yield different interpretations. The decision of using illusions matches with the theme of Maris Kulis’ book, “Finis veritatis? About truth and lies”. Ozoliņš questions the meaning and value of the truth today, which is what Kulis’ touches on his book. Confusing Pictures are Accidental Optical Illusions(Image credit: Patrick Deivernois) How many friends are sharing a toast? Look carefully before you answer. Or look to see how many tiny bottles there are. The human brain takes shortcuts in order to make sense of what we are seeing. We assume a familiar shape is really what we think it is. We group the same colors together in one shape. And we use our experiences to make snap judgments. But photography doesn't care what the human brain does, which can result in temporary confusion.
It’s A Giant Seagull!Nope. This is not an image edited with Photoshop. It’s just an optical illusion.Paula Northway Poland went on a trip with her friend in 2018 to Texas to escape the cold winter in Utah. Upon arriving at the place, Poland and her friends decided to take a stroll on the beach. But as her friends sat on the shoreline, Poland decided to go to the water to feed the seagulls with bread, as she didn’t want to be with people.Christine Mather-Poole, one of Poland’s friends, took a picture of her moment with the seagulls. Little did Mather-Poole know that she’d be capturing what would probably be the perfect seagull photo to exist. When night came, the friends examined the photos that they took earlier in the day, and, lo and behold, a giant seagull appeared in one of the photos. It was a magnificent image. It would seem that, when Mather-Poole took a picture of her friend, a seagull suddenly took flight at the exact moment when the shutter clicked, and the result is this forced perspective image.Talk about perfect timing!(Images Credit: Christine Mather-Poole)#seagull #EverythingIsBiggerInTexas #OpticalIllusion #ForcedPerspective #CameraTrick

This is Not a Spiral Optical IllusionThe image above certainly looks like a black and white spiral, but it's actually a set of concentric circles. The optical illusion, titled "blue-green algae spiral" by famed Japanese optical illusion creator and experimental psychologist Akiyoshi Kitaoka, has been making rounds on the Internet for a while (Kitaoka made it back in 2007) but try as you might, you just can't convince your brain that it's NOT a spiral.#OpticalIllusion #AkiyoshiKitaoka #circle #spiral #SpiralOpticalIllusionSo let us clearly show that the spiral optical illusion is, in fact, a series of concentric circles:
Scintillating Starburst Optical Illusion Tricks The Brain Into Seeing RaysVisual artist Michael Karlovich of Recursia Studio created this new optical illusion that tricks your brain into seeing dazzling rays emanating from the center of the design. The optical illusion, nicknamed the "scintillating starburst" is made of concentric wreaths or star polygons, with intersection points that the brain sees as "bright points." As those bright points line up from the inner wreath to the outer ones, the brain creates rays through them even though there aren't any in the actual graphic. From Live Science:The rays are visible regardless of what color the lines and background are as long as they contrast, the researchers found. This can also make the rays change color; for example, putting white wreaths on a black background makes people see much darker, but equally bright, rays."Our preliminary pilot experiments with color suggest what is most important is that there should be a high amount of contrast between the color of the background and the color of the lines making up the design," Karlovich said. "The higher the contrast, the stronger the rays."#OpticalIllusion #starburst #polygon
