This Banana Is a Banana Pastry of Multiple Banana ModalitiesCeci n’est pas une banane. In fact, it is art. The artist is the amazingAmaury Guichon, a pastry chef. No, that is not enough. Guichon is far more than a pastry chef. He is a pastry artist of the highest caliber. He is also, thankfully, a teacher of his art to those supremely talented students who are admitted to his salon in Las Vegas.Behold the banana that is more than a banana.Yes, he uses actual bananas as his source material. He uses those bananas to make banana cake, banana caramel, banana frosting, and banana filling. These, he layers into an exquisite banana-shaped and banana-filled cake. It’s truly extraordinary.-via The Awesomer#banana #pastry
These Are BananasSara Henick Montague, an artist who lives in southern Florida, shares this unusual image of a bunch bananas. They’re called, specifically, “praying hands bananas”. Gastro Obscura informs us that this unusual variety is found at the Redland Fruit and Spice Park, a remarkably edible public botanical garden in the Miami area.Branches of a banana tree are called “hands”, of which the individual fruits are “fingers”. The Specialty Produce company explains that the fingers of this variety are fused together. When viewed from the side, they appear to be hands folded in prayer.Montague has eaten them raw, but advises sauteing them for a special and sweet treat.#banana #botanicalgarden

Gastro Obscura explains that this banana species, which can be eaten cooked or raw, first formed in Polynesia. After it reached Hawaii and became popular there, Americans brought it to the mainland.
