Gamer’s Pet Fish Commits Credit Card Fraud While Playing His Nintendo Switch
The fish was having a good time, but his owner, not so much.Japanese YouTuber Mutekimaru decided to install a sophisticated motion detection tracking software in his fishtanks, which allows his pets to “play” video games. This kind of content is what his channel was known for, actually. In a live stream, viewers not only get to enjoy a fish swimming around as it played Pokemon, but they also get a glimpse of how credit card fraud happens in real time. The fish was able to log on to the console’s e-store, change their owner’s avatar, and set up a PayPal account. It was also able to rack up a credit card bill that left viewers (and Mutekimaru) speechless. The content creator stepped away for a break when the game crashed and the console returned to the home screen. The fish carried on swimming in its tank, and due to the motion sensors, it could still continue to control the console. For seven hours, the pet fish was able to add 500 yen ($4) to Mutekimaru’s Switch account from his credit card. This is kind of in line with credit card fraud, as the fish did not have the YouTuber’s permission. It’s not like the poor thing can be admissible in court though, right? For now, Mutekimaru has revealed that his pet was able to expose his credit card details in the process. He has also said that he contacted Nintendo to ask for a refund for his 500 yen.Image credit: Mutekimaru#fraud #fish #motionsensors #gaming #YouTube #Nintendo #Pokemon
Playing Video Games Improve Reading Skills by Training the Visual Attention Systems in the Brain
Visual attention in the brain plays an essential role in quick and efficient reading in children. And when it comes to exercising these attentional processes, video games can be a great help. Yup, you read it right. Video games can help improve reading skills. This was according to this research which involved participants of varying levels of video game experience. The study found out that those who had more exposure to video games tended to have a faster reading reaction time than those who had less or none. The researchers note that activities that can affect attentional processes (like video games) can also have an impact on reading. This study could help video game designers to create games that can help children and adults alike develop their skills.(Image Credit: Pixabay)#Reading #VideoGames #Gaming #Attention #CognitiveProcesses
The Perfect Onesie for Gamers Has a Drop-Open Panel for Toileting
Some people enjoy standing up, moving away from their computers and gaming consoles, and moving around. But us normal people know that it’s best to remain seated so that we can look at our screens and interact with the world digitally.Alas, bodily needs sometimes get in the way. You could simply game from a toilet, but not all console desks are set up this way. We could also use the urinal options available to US Air Force pilots, but those are expensive.Thankfully, the Japanese company Bauhutte has invented the Damegi 4G (“Ninja Onesie”) to keep gaming comfortable. Sora News 24 says that this garment features a drop-open panel for “amazingly speedy butt release and butt cleanup.” In just a few seconds, you’re back in your game.Image: Bauhutte#onsie #gaming #toilet

The DreamCube Lets You Walk Into a Video Game
Literally making your way inside a video game sounds too good to be true, but it’s not and the technology for it is already here for us to enjoy. Here we havethe DreamCube brand and technology, developed by Local Projects along with Harves Global Entertainment and the MTM collective. It’s a 256-square-foot virtual reality room complete with advanced motion-tracking cameras and projection mapping hardware for a truly realistic gaming experience. With the DreamCube, the developers want to prevent us from using gaming as an excuse to isolate ourselves from others. By design, the virtual reality room is only three-sided. The empty back wall keeps us connected with our friends and the real world.“It’s kind of like a mixture of Topgolf, bowling, and karaoke,” says Jake Barton, a co-owner of DreamCube. “We’re also using a lot of VR conventions, but in a way that’s communal but not isolating. It’s a big investment into physical space, and a [mixed reality] platform that doesn’t involve cutting your senses off.”So far, the DreamCube brand has struck a deal with the NBA and also with the Manchester United soccer club. It’s only a matter of time until it can create more games for gamers to enjoy.Image: Harves#Gaming #DreamCube #virtual #virtualreality #NBA #videogame
The Krispy Kreme and Xbox Collaboration No One Expected
Microsoft, and more specifically, Xbox, is not new to cross-brand synergies with previous marketing strategies involving collaborations with Taco Bell, Doritos, and Mountain Dew in order to promote the Xbox One X in the United States. This time, Microsoft has teamed up with Krispy Kreme to commemorate Xbox's 20th anniversary.Krispy Kreme is celebrating this by releasing an Xbox donut for a limited time. The iced donut is topped with green icing and is dusted with powdered sugar, decorated to look like the brand’s signature logo—a big “X”, aptly called the nexus symbol of the famous console. It’s also filled with a thick and decadent chocolate brownie fondant that isn’t too punch-in-the-face sweet. Some might say that green isn’t exactly the most appetizing color—but then again, who doesn’t love donuts? Plus, those who buy a box of 12 also get the chance of winning a new Xbox Series X!The limited-edition doughnuts are available across the UK until August 22nd.Image: engaget | M.
