The Velveeta Martini
Velveeta is the subject of a new advertising campaign called La Dolce Velveeta. It presents the cheese product as not choice for kids, but for trendy and fashionable young people with fabulous taste, hence the yellow nail polish that smells like Velveeta. The next phase of the ad campaign has dropped. The New York Post reports that the BLT Restaurant Group is offering the Veltini—a Velveeta-themed cocktail—at several of its restaurants. The Veltini has cheese-infused vodka, Velveet-stuffed olives, Velveeta-filled pasta shells, and a rim painted with—you guessed it—Velveeta. It’s like a boxed macaroni and cheese dinner for adults.-via Dave Barry| Photo: Velveeta#martinis #cocktails #Velveeta
Why Bar Spoons Are Shaped Like Spirals
Bar spoons and other tools of the bartender’s craft are specialized instruments with designs that have evolved over centuries. The long, narrow spoons used to stir cocktails sometimes have spiral shafts. Why? Master (and, in fact, champion) bartender Kaitlyn Stewart explains that the spiral shaft helps bartenders pour layers into cocktails—especially carbonated drinks. The surface helps carbonated drinks retain that carbonation and not fizz over.I’m going to guess that has something to do with the increased surface area that a spiral necessarily has. The adhesion of the water to the spoon would help control the descent of the liquid into the glass.-via Laughing Squid#bartending #cocktails #spoons #KaitlynStewart
