Ancient Rock at Big Bend National Park Irreparably Damaged by Vandals
Vandalism and graffiti have increased inBig Bend National Park in Texas. One of the park's most valuable prehistoric arts has been ruined.A group of unknown people vandalized the Panel of Ancient Petroglyphs at Big Bend National Park's Indian Head area on December 26, 2021. They brazenly carved their names and the date onto the archaic art. Big Bend National Park managers are now requesting that anyone with knowledge, or who has been involved in these occurrences, contact the park's law enforcement team.Over fifty instances of damage at these historically significant sites have been documented by park archeologists since 2015. Each act of vandalism against our national parks and treasures, according to Big Bend National Park Superintendent Bob Krumenaker, means that a piece of our country's history is lost forever. They are encouraging Americans to protect their country's beauty and heritage by reminding everyone to be responsible and report any information they have about the incidents or individuals involved in the damage of Big Bend National Park law.Photos by: National Park Service#BigBengNationalPark #Vandalism #Damaged #Texas
