Why Are Hotels Changing The Traditional Check-In Time?Hotels are now changing their strict check-in times. This is great, as there are some cases where travelers will miss the designated time (which was usually at 3:00 pm) due to traffic, delays, and other roadblocks along the way. Some travelers might arrive in the area too early, tired and beaten down from the arduous flight they went through, and will have to wait for hours. This is why the rigid system of 3:00 pm for check-ins and 11:00 am - 12:00 am check-out gets on the nerves of tourists and travelers for years. However, it seems that things are looking better for guests. Going to hotels and booking a room at any time is now available in various hotels around the globe. For example, Standard Hotels have their “Standard Time” option, where guests can leave and stay whenever they want. They have to pay extra, though. Other establishments are also enforcing their own flexible time option for travelers. The rise of this very considerate trend was done in the hopes to eliminate the frustration of travelers not being able to rest or freshen up after a long flight. Some that also attempted to provide this service found an increase in business, such as the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Here’s to the hope that flexible check-ins and check-outs will be a norm in all hotels and accommodations around the globe!Image credit: Pixabay#hotels #checkins #checkouts #travel #Peninsula #StandardHotels #flexibility
City Walks: Virtually Wander Through Various Cities Around the WorldDo you miss walking and exploring different cities, in the way one might have done before the pandemic? Well, here’s a website that can temporarily satisfy the need to travel and unwind. Meet City Walks, a web platform developed by married programming duo Aristomenis Georgiopoulos and Artemis Stiga. The platform displays videos of people walking around in different parts of the globe. What makes watching them travel through these streets engaging is the perspective. The camera angle makes you feel like you’re the one walking around, not them. I admit that I might have spent too long toggling through different city options, it’s very satisfying! In addition to City Walks, the couple collaborated with Lux and Wunderman Thompson to create In Her Shoes, a social experiment that takes a stand against casual sexism. In Her Shoes follows the same format of its predecessor, but portrays the point of view of men and women walking around Cairo, Egypt (for now).  Those videos show how people react around them. The experiment aims to showcase the problems that women face every day due to their appearance or the way they dress, and to portray the difference in how men and women interact with the environment around them. Image screenshots via City Walks #citywalks #inhershoes #travel #webplatform #walking #application
This Website Lets You See The World Through Another Person’s WindowWe’re stuck at home. It’s a reality we cannot deny. For many of us, the farthest travel we may have recently taken was the trip to the grocery store. To the store and not much further. We’re frustrated. We’re itching to travel. Unfortunately, many of us can’t.Sonali and Vai, the team over at WindowSwap seem keenly aware of the situation, and perhaps they themselves have experienced, or are experiencing, the same frustration. In order to make the world a little bit better they created a website that provides people with a window to the world. It was a way in which one could “travel without moving.”“It’s here to fill that deep void in our wanderlust hearts by allowing us to look through someone else's window, somewhere in the world,” they say over at the website.“Let's travel without moving for now. Let's window swap.”Click here to go to the website.(Image Credit: WindowSwap)#Travel #Window #WindowSwap #Home #Virtual

His Instagram account is filled with photos of him doing what he loves. The account is also, however, brimming with the strange things that he spots on his travels. Take for instance, this bizarre warning sign that he noticed in Moab, Utah while biking on the Captain Ahab mountain bike trail. What does this sign mean? Do the cows talk in Moab, Utah? If they do, what strange tales are they sharing? It seems we may never know the answer.(Image Credit: Adam_braden via Instagram)#adventure #travel #weird #cycling #Moab #Utah #CaptainAhab
