Is Ketchup A Good Thermal Paste Alternative?
Look, sometimes, things can be quite difficult. Supplies may be diminished to the point that it's either too expensive to purchase something or we can’t find the item we want. While this venture may put one particular kitchen condiment out of the possible alternatives for thermal paste, this discovery was made because hardware and computer enthusiasts are on the hunt for new techniques and methods to shave a degree or two off their operating temperatures. We wouldn’t recommend what these people have done, especially if you don’t have any experience with tinkering with electronics. A ComputerBase community member recently put several thermal pads and pastes to the test with a GPU. A fan was added to make the tests faster. When they tested ketchup as a thermal paste, the GPU had a temperature of 71 degrees Celsius. Compared to the performance of toothpaste (90 degrees Celsius), potato thin, and a cheese slice (both got the GPU at 105 degrees Celsius), the ketchup was the best runner.
