MS Word’s Secret Transcription ToolTranscribing is difficult. You’re required to sit down for hours as you play and pause in between the footage you need to work on as you ensure the words that you write down match what the speakers are saying. It’s tedious and can be a very long and painful process.Did you know that there’s an application that can help you with that? Microsoft Word has a not-so-secret (mostly just unnoticed) tool for its users: an automatic transcription tool. While this has been in other word processors, this software has one that is accurate and can separate different speakers. Laptop Magazine’s Jason England shares the steps you need to take so you can use the tool in your next project. We’ve placed them below for your reference: 1. In Word, click Dictate and select Transcribe from the drop-down menu.2. From here, you can either Upload audio (a pre-recorded .wav, .m4a, .mp4, or .mp3 file) or select Start recording to begin transcribing.3. If you have selected Start recording, click Save and transcribe now when you’re finished. At this point, you’ll see the entire transcription with different speakers separated.4. From here, you can play back specific lines and edit the text to ensure all is correct. You can also edit the name of each speaker.5 Once you’re happy with the results, click Add all to the document. Or if you just want a single quote, click the plus button next to the line you wish to add.Well, hopefully, this tool can save you time and effort on your next job! Image credit: Microsoft #MSWord #Microsoft #wordprocessor #application #software #transcription
Microsoft Uses Computer Heat to Warm Up Homes in FinlandFinnish state-owned energy company Fortum has teamed up with technological supergiant Microsoft to help provide warmth to different homes in Finland.A new data center region will be built by Microsoft in Helsinki, where Fortum will harvest the heat obtained from the server cooling process. The harvested heat will be provided to different establishments, such as residential areas and businesses that are connected to its district heating system. This waste heat recycling collaborative project is the largest of its kind in the world! According to Markus Rauramo, the president and CEO of Fortum, “by tapping into waste heat from data centers, we can provide clean heat for homes, businesses and public buildings in Espoo’s and the neighboring communities’ district heating network in Finland, and reduce about 400,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. This is a significant step for a cleaner world, made possible by our joint ambition to mitigate climate change.” The data center would push the country to the forefront of digitalization and innovation and will also provide a sustainable source of heating for its residents. Now that’s a win-win! Image credit: Fortum #sustainable #heating #datacenter #districtheating #Microsoft #Fortum #Finland

The Krispy Kreme and Xbox Collaboration No One ExpectedMicrosoft, and more specifically, Xbox, is not new to cross-brand synergies with previous marketing strategies involving collaborations with Taco Bell, Doritos, and Mountain Dew in order to promote the Xbox One X in the United States. It’s also filled with a thick and decadent chocolate brownie fondant that isn’t too punch-in-the-face sweet. Some might say that green isn’t exactly the most appetizing color—but then again, who doesn’t love donuts?
