Elegant McDonald's Fries JewelryAre you lovin’ it? I sure am! If Ronald McDonald strikes it big and wants to put his wealth on ostentatious display, this what he would wear. Marc Deloche, a French jewelry designer of renown, designed this necklace that resembles a package of McDonald’s famous fries. If Google Translate is working properly (sorry, my high school French is too far gone), then this necklace was offered as a prize in a contest at McDonald’s locations in the city of Toulouse. Since it’s assessed at €15,000 ($16, 723 USD), then I’ll guess that’s real gold and diamonds. Presumably real ketchup is still available in packets.-via Toxel#McDonalds #jewelry #frenchfries #necklace #gold #diamond
This McDonald's Has Exercise Tables For Diners to UseGizmodo informs us that a McDonald’s restaurant in what I think is the city of Jieyang, China has exercise bikes inside for diners to use while pouring in the high fat food. Here’s my question: how fast must a person pedal in order to eat a Big Mac and be calorie-neutral? A lot depends on a person’s individual metabolism, but let’s say that vigorous pedaling burns 391 calories per half hour. A Big Mac has 550 calories, so a diner could remain calorie-neutral if eating a Big Mac in 42 minutes while pedaling at high speed. But I’m not sure that it would be worth the effort.-via Technabob#McDonalds #China #exerciseImage:McDonald’s China
Inspired by McDonald's Efficient Fast Food Operation, This Indian Hospital's Cataract "McSurgery" Restored Eyesight to Millions of PeopleA network of hospitals of the Aravind Eye Care System carries out around 500,000 surgeries a year while providing free services to those in need. The efficient network of Aravind got its inspiration from the highly effective assembly line model of McDonald’s.Govindappa Venkataswamy, the doctor who set up Aravind, said after learning the economies of scale of fast-food chains, “If McDonald's can do it for hamburgers, why can't we do it for eye care?"More than a quarter of the world’s population suffers from vision impairment, and about a half of it is preventable but untreated according to the World Health Organization. In India, around 10 million people are blind and about 50 million are suffering from visual impairments, with cataracts being the predominant cause. The model used by Aravind proved to be a success with its wide reach in India. An example of a recipient of the hospital’s free services is Venkatachalam Rajangam. "I thought the operation would be for an hour but within 15 minutes everything was over. But it didn't feel rushed. The procedure was done properly," he said after the “Mcsurgery”.Images: Arun Sankar/AFP#eyes #surgery #McSurgery #India #cataract #McDonalds
McDonald’s, But It’s A MansionNew York — When you are in the vicinity of the Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park, make sure to stop by the the McDonald’s. This beautiful golden arches is likely not like any others you may have visited. Unlike normal McDonald’s restaurants, this special one is located inside an old Victorian home. This two-story McDonald's building once served as the farmhouse home of a descendant of one of the founders of the town of Hempstead. After some time, the mansion fell into disrepair. In 1985, the McDonald’s Corporation expressed interest in the property. The local community, however, did not initially like the idea of the property being converted into a McDonalds. After some negotiation the McDonald's corporation agreed to honor the history of the building. The building was both restored and converted into a McDonald's restaurant. This true McMansion is still being meticulously maintained.(Image Credit: DanTD; cropped by Beyond My Ken/ Wikimedia Commons)#McDonalds #McMansion #NewYork #NewHydePark #LongIsland #DentonHouse
