Lisa Simpson Appears in This 2,200-Year Old Statue
The resemblance is uncanny. This Etruscan statuette, which dates back to the Second or Third Century B.C., measures just over 4 inches high. It’s currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The statuette appears to show a male priest or religious devotee offering a libation. The distinctly pointed hairstyle, reminiscent of cartoon character Lisa Simpson, comes from a ceremonial headdress. Out of that context, the hardcore Simpsons fan would think that Lisa had dressed in a toga to deliver an address to the Roman Senate or was delivering Marc Antony’s funeral oration from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.-via Debby Witt | Photo: Metropolitan Museum of Art#Etruscan #TheSimpsons #LisaSimpson
