Red Bull Stunt Pilot Dario Costa Flew an Airplane Through TWO Tunnels at 150 Miles per HourDario Costa, a professional race and stunt pilot, set a world record by flying through two tunnels at an average speed of 245 kph (152.2 mph) on September 4, 2021. Costa flew in his modified Zivko Edge 540 race plane inside of the dual Catalca Tunnels on Turkey’s Northern Marmara Highway. With over two decades of flying under his belt, the 41-year-old pilot clocked over 5000 hours in the cockpit, with more than half of those hours in high-performance aerobatics.  He became the first Italian to win in the Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class. For years, Costa dreamt of the Tunnel Pass, believed to be his most challenging stunt yet.“Everything seemed to be happening so fast, but when I got out of the first tunnel, the plane started to move to the right because of the crosswinds and in my head, everything slowed down in that moment, I reacted and just focused on getting the plane back on the right path to enter the other tunnel. Then in my mind, everything sped up all over again.” Said Costa.Costa was averaging 245 kph while managing changes in the second tunnel. After the plane got out of the other side, he made a celebratory loop before landing. The flight in the tunnel was recognized with a Guinness World Record for Longest Tunnel Flown through with an Aeroplane at 1,730m. There are four other records set in this exhibition: first Aeroplane flight through a tunnel, longest flight under a solid obstacle, first aeroplane flight through two tunnels and first aeroplane takeoff from a tunnel.#RedBull #WorldRecord #GuinnessWorldRecord #Airplane #Aviation #Tunnel #DarioCosta
Jetman Dubai Duo Fly in Formation with Emirates Airlines A380Before the flight attendant standing on top of Burj Khalifa stunt by Emirates Airlines, there was this thrilling daredevil performance by Jetman Dubai duo Yves Rossy and Vincent Reffet.Back in 2015, the Jetman Dubai flew in formation with Emirates Airlines A380 passenger jet over the skies of Dubai."We're mosquitoes flying with an eagle or a condor," Rossy said before the aerial stunt.Watch as Rossy and Reffet approach the aircraft from the rear, then fly in formation besides each of the plane's wings, and then break formation as they flew over the Palm Jumeirah with the Dubai skyline in the distance.#EmiratesAirlines #Dubai #JetmanDubai #Jetman #YvesRossy #VincentReffet #Airbus #Airbus380 #airplane #aerialstunt
Time-Lapse of NASA's X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Aircraft Being ConstructedWatch the X-59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology or QueSST being built in this amazing time-lapse that NASA has just shared.Under construction at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works in Palmdale, California, NASA's new supersonic aircraft is designed to fly at the supersonic speed of 660 mph (1,062 kph) at sea level without producing the loud sonic boom that people on the ground would hear. The 58-second clip of the construction time-lapse showed how the aircraft's wing, tail assembly and fuselage or forward sections are merged. "The extensive use of features and pre-drilled, full-size fastener holes has significantly reduced the time it takes to locate and fit parts, especially mating large assemblies like this,” said David Richardson, Lockheed Martin program director in NASA's website. “It is sort of like how Legos go together. We used the laser tracker to make sure it is all aligned per the engineering specs before we permanently bolted it all together.”While the X-59 will surely turn out to be a "cool" plane, it also has an interesting purpose. NASA will fly the aircraft over several communities around the United States to gauge people's reaction to the aircraft's sonic "thump", if at all (as opposed to the loud sonic boom associated with supersonic flight). They hope to be able to reverse the ban on supersonic flight over land and thus cut future air travel time in half.#NASA #LockheedMartin #aircraft #airplane #supersonic #X59 #sonicboom #timelapseWatch the full clip below:
What if Airplane Pilots Behaved Like Car Drivers?YouTuber Papa Kilo, a self-described former bush pilot turned airline pilot, had some spare time on his hands during the COVID-19 lockdown, so he put together some video clips of airplanes and mashed it up with sound effects of automobiles. The results are a series of funny short video clips of what would happen if airline pilots behaved like impatient car drivers stuck in traffic.#airplane #pilot #car #driver
Pilot Showed the Secret Server Room Under the Cockpit of Airbus 350Pilot and Youtuber bjornpilot took this behind-the-scenes video of the avionics compartment below the cockpit of the Airbus 350. It's amazing how much electronics is involved in flying a modern passenger aircraft!#airplane #avionics #behindthescenes #AirbusView the full video clip below:
This Cessna Plane on a VW Bug Chassis is a Cute 🛩️ Car!What do pilots drive when they have to travel on the ground instead of in the air?Take a look at this amazing Craigslist find over at Aviation Humor: a 1959 Cessna 172 on a 1968 VW bug chassis. The planecar (carplane?) has a 1600 VW 4 cylinder engine, is street legal and has the original instrument panel.#car #airplane #Cessna #VWBug
