Detecting cancer is now easier thanks to this AI-based home screening test. Produced by Viome Life Sciences, CancerDetect™ provides detection for oral and throat cancer. What’s great about this is that it has around 90%- 95% accuracy. For cancers of this type, it usually goes undiagnosed until it has reached a severe or advanced stage.
"Despite all the innovations across the health landscape, oral and throat cancer has remained life-threatening diseases with few options for early detection," said Naveen Jain, Founder, and CEO of Viome Life Sciences.
But what makes it so difficult to detect? Aside from the lack of tools before, there is a protein that makes the cancer cells remain dormant. Found by Maria Soledad Sosa from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Julio A. Aguirre-Ghiso, now at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NR2F1 is a receptor protein that can turn numerous genes on or off.
