The invention of the microscope opened our eyes to a world unseen before: the world of cells and bacteria. Through this invention, we learned how cells divide and how bacteria and microorganisms interact with cells. However, one limitation to the common microscope is that we only see the world of cells in two dimensions.
Thanks to new microscopy, cells can now be seen in three dimensions, allowing us to understand the processes and complexities of cells. Within each cell lies “a microscopic universe”.
