Parth Kothekar, an artist in Ahmedabad, India, works primarily in cut paper. His portfolio is enormous and features a variety of subjects, including birds, fairies, mermaids, human portraits, and Hindu gods. But what I want to focus is his latest series of compositions for an upcoming show called Raw Collaborative.
These are inspired by the geometric forms of M.C. Escher which twist the viewer’s mind as perspective shifts depending upon one’s position. Completely flat forms show curves thanks to the optical illusions that Kothekar plans and cuts so perfectly. Try to keep your balance as you stare at them.
