How to Make a Rotary Phone Keyboard

Squidgeefish uses his technical skills to make ingenious gadgets of occasional utility, such as this modified keyboard that has the dial from an old fashioned rotary phone built into it. It’s an April Fool’s Day prank for a coworker who spoke fondly of the rotary phone that his grandparents used to have.

Complete programming and a wiring diagram are here. The rotary dial serves as a replacement for the tenkey pad, allowing the user to spin the dial to type in numbers. A 3D printed cover for the numbers at the top of the keyboard makes use of the rotary dial mandatory.
