George McCallum, a food artist in the UK, was working as an art director at an advertising firm in London in 2019 when he and a friend had a baking contest between themselves. This, The Face reports, began McCullum’s foray into food art.
Recently, he’s been exploring decorating raw pork bellies with tattoo ink, such as this one that he made for the podcast Crisis Dining Room.
McCullum presents these tattooed works as gifts for special occasions, such as this piece that he inked for a friend’s birthday.
Think about the potential for this medium when professional tattoo artists start experimenting with pork bellies.
Although the images warp and fade a bit after baking, the forms still stay mostly intact and clearly visible.
