The popular home electronics brand Dyson has taken its first step into wearable technology by releasing the Dyson Zone, a pair of noise-canceling, high-fidelity over-ear headphones that give immersive sound to the ears while also delivering purified airflow to the nose and mouth.
The Dyson Zone air-purifying headphones are the culmination of more than a decade of research and development into air quality and noise pollution challenges in cities.

During its development period, the Dyson Zone air-purifying headphones had undergone significant changes with over 500 prototypes made over 6 years. The original prototype had a snorkel-like mouthpiece paired with a backpack to hold the motor to operate the air-purification system. Since then, the snorkel-like mouthpiece evolved into a contact-less visor that delivers fresh air without full-face contact.
