Dark Versions of Classic Little Tikes Toys

The Little Tikes brand of toys is an icon of American childhood. At some point, probably most American children climbed inside a Cozy Coupe, which occupied many driveways and yards during the 1980s.

This version, though, is darker. Andy Sahlstrom, an artist in Brooklyn, designed and 3D printed this version of the preschooler toy to resembled a hearse.

It’s one item in a series of creations for his new show titled Kids’ Toys—Adult Issues. They include items such as this ashtray shaped to look like a small version of the famous Turtle Sandbox. This, perhaps, is how an adult copes with the traumas that he experienced when he first played in the sandbox.

Other toys are more original--or, at least, I don't remember ever playing with a Little Tikes autopsy kit when I was a child.
